Natural Hair, the term has mostly been used by the black hair community…and now that it’s become a bigger community and more “mainstream”, I’ve seen more white people use the term as well. Natural hair mostly meaning not using a chemical to straighten our hair. Yes technically we all have natural hair when you don’t use chemicals, etc…so yes white people have natural hair.
No one is saying that white people don’t have curly hair, some of them do have very curly and thick hair. But when they start calling their hair afros and fros because it’s messy or hard to manage..that’s when I see major problem. My hair natural hair type shouldn’t be considered messy or hard to manage, because it’s not.
This is a motherfucking FAIL.
What am I even reading? who is this tumblr run by? i have a serious problem not only with this ‘confession of epic fucking fail and fuckery’ and the idea that a non-Black person runs a tumblr that uses the term ‘kinky’ (or a derivative of that word) to describe hair. NOPE.
So the historic & social context of using the term natural to describe unprocessed Afro textured hair is escaping folks? Gee, I’m so surprised.
lemme know when one of these folks that is so traumatized by not being able to use the term “natural hair” gets fired for having “natural hair.”
